蕈居─城市心情書寫

密集的都會建築，宛如真菌聚集而生的「蕈居」。蕈，是一種大型、高等的真菌，其快速繁生後，即可在短時間形成遍佈聚落。孢子生殖的蕈，微細孢子萌發後產生菌絲，單核菌絲相遇交配後，結合成雙核菌絲，然後發育為蕈。就像，當人們在空曠土地上蓋起了一間屋子後，周邊的房子就會像菌絲般一直不停繁衍蔓生，形成一種類似群聚的蕈社區─「都會蕈居」。

蕈會隨風飄落在溫濕地方生長繁殖，群居生物的人類也會尋找適合生活地方停留、安頓下來。慢慢地許多人同時停留聚集的地方，就變成了群居的聚落，最後更發展成一個城市；城市提供生活其中的人們居住、工作、消費、遊戲、遊走…，城市會有其情緒與表情，生活其中的人們會創造出不同城市文化；同時，城市更影響了人們性格、心情與面貌，並形塑了城市的居民文化。

城市的面貌不是單一、固定的，他是有色彩、聲音、溫度與感情。城市會成長、生病、老化與死亡，城市因外在變化，會生氣、憂鬱、悲傷，也會歡樂、喜悅，也會靜謐、沉默、呆滯，有時更會變成了面無表情的冰冷、疏離。它的面貌會隨著季節溫度、風吹雨落、日夜光影而變化，更會因人們的心情起伏、腳步節奏、生活脈絡而牽引。當人給予城市關愛、疼惜，他就會回饋你熱情的歡笑與擁抱；當人對待城市粗暴、不友善，便會反映出它的不悅與生氣，最後人與城市將會形成對立關係，或選擇彼此逃離，甚至相互背棄與傷害。

透過一系列畫作中的色彩變化、線條交織與造形堆疊，描寫出藝術家的城市面貌觀察，也訴說了藝術家面對城市的心情變化與情緒波動。每個人都在尋找一個理想的城市空間，也就是在蕈居都會中尋覓可以將感情安置的一個小小屋子，那將是藝術家用來吟詩、跳舞，甚至發呆的角落，是一個生活、睡覺的地方，同時也是一個心靈寄放的空間。所以，這些作品這不僅是藝術家蕈居城市的心情書寫，同時也是現代都會城市多變面貌的顯影。

Mushroom House – the impression and portraiture of cities

The dense buildings crowd in the city, as if they are fungi gather together, the image of “Mushroom Houses” are gradually developed. Mushroom, is a large, higher protist of fungi, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source. After its rapid propagation, mushrooms can form around the settlement in a short time. Through spore reproduction, the microspore germinates and hyphae emerge, after mating they combine and become dacryon mycelium, finally develop into mushrooms. Just like the concept of people starting to build a house on a clear and empty place, sooner or later there would have more and more houses building up like mycelium, propagate and overgrown in the short time. Finally, the place turns into a congregate fungus society—I named it Mushroom City.

Fungi usually breed in warm and damp places, just like human flock together, looking for the right location to stay and to live. The places where people gather turn into tribe, and finally become cities. Cities generously provide people places to live, to work, to consume, to have fun and wandering. Every city has their own emotions and faces, people living inside create different living styles, at the same time, city could also affect its residents’ personality, emotion and expression, build up a city’s special culture.

The expression of the city is no single or fixed; it has its own colors, sounds, temperature and feelings. A city has the ability to breathe, to grow up, even might get sick or die sometimes. Along with the environmental and social changes, it faces various kind of emotions like anger, gloom and sadness, also tastes happiness, cheeriness and joy. It has the chance to become a silent and lifeless place, turn into a cold and alienated city. The faces of cities usually change with seasons, weathers and the bright and dark side of sunlight; on the other hand, they may also be influenced by inhabitants’ emotions, living style and different speed and paths, moving up and down with life. When people give their kindness and cherish to the city, trying to get closer to it, the city would definitely give you back the same smile and warm hug; but if people treat the city at some mean and unfriendly way, it could reflect its uncomfortable moods and anger back to you. Despite we are interdependent, city and its residents are on the opposing side, we may somehow stand against each other. If people and the city keep hurting mutually, we would have no choice but to separate, abandon or just try to run away from each other in the end.

By means of color changing, using the method of interweaving and stacking lines and images in the series of painting, it portrays the artist’s observation of cities and their special expressions, at the same time, telling people his emotional movements when facing and living in it. Everybody is looking forward to find an ideal space to make a life for ourselves, so people crowded together and form the image of Mushroom City. Sometimes humans are so eager to find a little place, where we can put all our emotions in. It would be the space that the artist uses to recite poetry, to dance, just stop over or stare into space, lost in his own thoughts. It’s a little space in a huge city that people use to live and to sleep, also a room to deposit our spirit and mind. So these artworks are not only the emotional portraiture of an artist who lives in the Mushroom City, but also the exposure of the multiple faces and social fabrics of urban cities.
